Ampco is the first company in Canada certified as a 3M Scotchprint Graphics Authorized Manufacturer under 3M’s new digital certification system. 3M’s certification process involves testing various printing process components including the colour accuracy and image quality on Ampco’s large format digital inkjet printers. The exceptionally high test results rank Ampco’s capabilities among the best in North America. This certification demonstrates Ampco’s ability to deliver outstanding graphics and continues to build the business relationship with 3M with credibility and integrity.
Ampco presented a cheque to the CKNW Orphans’ Fund for the amount of $ 9,181.56 on December 2nd at their annual Pledge Day at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. This marks the 30th year Ampco has been supporting the CKNW’s Orphans’ Fund which works with children with special needs every day of the year.
Ampco Manufacturers has been selected as a BC Finalist in Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies national competition, the benchmark for business excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million.
Each year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for the designation in a rigorous and independent judging process that evaluates the caliber of their management abilities and practices, overall business performance and growth as well as the effort of the entire organization. Sponsors of the program include Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post and Queen’s School of Business.
The elimination process continues with the announcement of the Canadian Finalists in December, followed by the announcement of the 50 winners in early spring 2012.
This holiday season, Tourism of Toronto created Torontoland where you can visit and catch the holiday spirit. Twenty snowmen is an important part of this festive Torontoland, and Ampco Grafix played a role in helping the creative ideas come to life for this wonderful holiday initiative.
The seven-foot tall fiberglass snowmen, appearing throughout the downtown Toronto core were personally designed by one of 16 acclaimed Toronto artists. When you snap a photo or video of yourself with one of these snowmen and post it to Torontoland’s Facebook page, Tourism Toronto will donate $2.00 for every entry uploaded to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Ampco Grafix took on the project as a unique out-of-home display/objet d’art project. Ampco Grafix worked with an agency, SMAK to help bring these snowmen to life with artful graphics, by creating the template for printing and cutting and handled installations onto the snowmen’s bodies. Regardless of the tight deadline, all the 20 snowmen were dressed and delivered on time. The project overall took 317.6 hours with 16 skilled technicians to set up the files, print, laminate, computer-cut, hand-trim and install.
The snowmen were created in collaboration with Lunch and Narwhal, a creative production network founded by Executive Producer Amy Miranda who enabled Toronto’s internationally renowned artists to be part of the Torontoland campaign.

Graphics installations require in-depth understanding of vinyl graphics materials as well as expertise in a broad range of installation techniques on a variety of surfaces including windows, bumpers, riveted trailers and rough textured brick walls.
3M Canada has a certification system, which involves three levels of training with a test, to reward those who passed the test as the “Preferred Graphics Installers”. The ever- expanding list of vehicle wrap materials now have silver carbon fiber film, black carbon fiber film and matte black, leading to unique and beautiful wrap designs. There are white, black, silver and military green available for matte finishes, while carbon fiber wraps are available in black, anthractite (black & grey) and white. Bushed metal is another finish available in various colors.
